Technical Project Manager

Background

Apica’s operates a worldwide customer experience monitoring and load testing network spanning over 120 locations for a global enterprise customer base. 

As a result of continued growth, we are looking for a customer facing project manager to manage the delivery of projects for our customers.

You will join Apica’s global Customer Enablement organization where you will be part of a small global multi-functional team, managing the delivery of our SaaS and on-premise solutions, working closely with the Technical Operations and Software Engineering teams to provide world class service to our customers.

Responsibilities

The core of the role is to ensure that our customer projects are delivered successfully, to time amd tro budget.  This includes

  • Manage projects with top-down oversight throughout entire execution to ensure success as defined by adherence to standards of scope, budget, and timeline. This includes identifying customer deliverables, agreeing and setting milestones for their delivery and tracking of these customer deliverables.  Where customer milestones are missed or are a risk, the communication to the customer of the risk to the timeline and management of internal and external escalation as necessary.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans (including backlogs etc) that merge customer requirements (accounting for internal and external customers) with company goals and coordinate various managers and technical personnel during all project phases, from project initiation through to operational transition.
  • Monitor project progress continuously and make detailed scheduled reports on measurable items, such as milestones and deliverables, delivering standard documentation such as highlight reports, project plans and RAID (Risks, Issues, Assumptions, Dependencies) logs.
  • Communicate proactively with all involved personnel to provide encouragement, identify problems, create solutions, and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Analyze the economics of project plans, track time sheets and consequent profitability and financial risks of a project and provide actionable feedback relating to cost to management.
  • Identify project variance to scope and escalate to appropriate management where variance is outside agreed controls.
  • Manage contract change requests (customer initiated scope changes), engaging account management and business management as appropriate to ensure profitability of project.
  • Review proposed modifications on project plans, including meeting with interested parties to approve and implement beneficial changes.
  • Provide resource plans for the business showing resource commitments, contention and under utilization
  • 2+ years of work experience in a client services environment
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related major
  • Business process re-engineering and process definition experience

Who you are

  • 2+ years of work experience in a client services environment
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related major
  • Business process re-engineering and process definition experience
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Strong documentation and communication and relationship building skills
  • Excellent judgement and decision making skills
  • Strong analytical and planning skills
  • Experience of working with clients at both a technical and senior level
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Technical skills from an solution architecture or programming background
  • Recognised professional project management qualification
